A survey by LG Mobile Phones reveals that 70 percent of teenagers reported that their parents send text messages while driving. About 44 percent of parents who were questioned admitted to the unsafe behavior.

In a similar study by the Pew Research Center, which was presented during the Federal Communication Commission's recent Generation Mobile Forum, approximately 40 percent of adolescents said they have been in a dangerous situation when a driver was using a cell phone.

To combat this alarming trend, LG has teamed with actress Jane Lynch to spread awareness about the dangers of texting while driving. Lynch, who appears in the popular TV show "Glee," is the star in a new series of educational videos about mobile phone misuse. Aside from the texting while driving problem, Lynch also addresses sexting, cyberbullying and text etiquette.

The videos, which are both humorous and thought-provoking, are designed for parents who may be unaware of the dangers associated with modern technology. In the final video in the LG Text Ed campaign, Lynch reminds parents that they are role models for their children. She says that adults who exhibit poor phone habits are setting a poor example for their kids.

Children who use cell phones or computers in an unsafe manner may benefit from tough love, when parents prohibit their kids from certain privileges.
