Researchers at the University of Cambridge recently conducted a survey in which they found that teenage boys aged 14 and 15 had an increased sense of well-being and happiness after meditation.
The study found that it lowered the anxiety levels of teens and helped young men become more aware of their emotions and physical conditions, the Times of India reports" Participants also took part in breathing exercises and were encouraged to notice the sensations that were involved in simple activities like walking.
The topics covered in the meditation classes included how to calm the mind and how to control and regulate their attention and emotions. They were also taught how to live in the present and to enjoy experiences that they are currently going through.
Researchers found that those who practiced meditation experienced improved well-being, and that those who practiced more often saw even greater benefits. They also found that the teenage boys who were experiencing high levels of anxiety benefited greatly from the training.
